Shuffle of ABC Raceway Schedule Starts with Opener Saturday<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ashland, WI, May 30<\/strong> \u2013 Mother Nature may have put the clamps on stock car racing action throughout the area in May, but with the calendar changing to June she\u2019s showing a much kinder side.<\/p>\n

The ABC Raceway will try one more time to kick off its 55th<\/sup> season under the direction of the Ashland-Bayfield County Racing Association while paying tribute to members of the Armed Forces by offering a six-division race program to be presented by the Northern State Bank of Ashland and the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce on Saturday night, June 1.<\/p>\n

For the program, retired and active military personnel will be offered free admission at the grandstand admission ticket window of the award-winning three-eighths-mile red-clay oval just south of Ashland.<\/p>\n

The entry-level four-cylinder WISSOTA Hornet division will join the WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Pure Stocks, and the track\u2019s own ABC Six-Cylinder class, to expand the Raceway\u2019s regular weekly offering for the first time since the 2009 season<\/p>\n

Approximately 20 drivers took advantage of a two-hour practice session on Wednesday evening to give their race machines a final shake-down on the northern Wisconsin oval. The track surface also benefitted by being run in at race speed after several weeks of wet weather soaking the facility over the past two months.<\/p>\n

Young race fans are invited to join the ABC Raceway Kids\u2019 Club this season, with a variety of special activities, gifts and prizes available throughout the summer. Information will be available at the track prior to each racing program.<\/p>\n

Hot laps will lead off the night\u2019s action at 6:15, and green-flag racing is scheduled for a 7 pm start. Adult grandstand admission is just $11 per person, kids ages 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.<\/p>\n

\u201cRace Night\u201d returns for its 16th season as the region\u2019s only pre-race radio program in a new pre-recorded format, with up-to-date track news and weather updates every 15-20 minutes from 4:30-6 pm. Coverage will air rain or shine on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, and will also stream on www.wbszfm.com<\/em><\/a> and on the free Heartland Communications Group radio app.<\/p>\n
