Ashland, WI, April 29 — The ABC Raceway will offer its fans from the Ironwood-Hurley area a chance to get fired up about the upcoming stock car racing season with a car show at Red’s Auto Sales in Ironwood, MI, on Saturday, May 5.
Several local drivers that will be competing at Ashland’s award-winning three-eighths-mile red-clay oval this coming summer are expected to have their race cars on display at the dealership lot, and the public is invited to stop in, look around, and chat with the drivers and Raceway officials. In addition, area motoring enthusiasts are invited to bring their muscle cars, street rods, custom bikes, and collector cars and trucks to display as well.
The ABC Raceway, operating under the direction of the all-volunteer Ashland-Bayfield County Racing Association for its 54th consecutive season, is set to host regular-season racing programs every Saturday night from May 12 through August 25 except for June 30, as the Raceway will host a WISSOTA Wollak Construction Late Model Challenge Series special on Friday, June 29. Along with the Challenge Series show, the track will also host visits by the Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series’ “traditional” non-winged sprints, the Advantage RV Modified Tour, the FastLane Motorsports Northland Super Stock Series, and Hornet racers from area tracks.
In late September, the Raceway’s 43rd annual Red Clay Classic is again expected to be the Northland’s biggest stock car racing event, with over 200 drivers and cars competing for one of the biggest purses in the entire Midwest.
During the car show, drivers that plan to compete at the ABC Raceway in 2018 are encouraged to stop by and take care of registrations, pit-spot reservations, licenses, and other administrative matters.
Bob D’Antonio, a former regular competitor at the ABC Raceway in the WISSOTA Super Stock division, and his staff at Red’s Auto will also be on hand to help fans with their automotive needs. Red’s Auto offers one of the largest inventories of clean, lower-mileage, pre-owned cars and trucks in the region. They can help with financing, and trade-ins are always welcome.
Red’s also offers a “budget” lot offering quality used vehicles at lower price ranges.
The car show will be held from 10 am until 1 pm on Saturday, and WIMI, 99.7 FM “The Storm,” will be on hand for a live radio broadcast at Red’s Auto from 11 am until 1 pm.
Red’s Auto Sales is located on US Highway 2, at 1231 E Cloverland Drive, in Ironwood. The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For more information, visit the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com.
