Ashland, WI — If you are a race fan, and you have a friend who maybe would like to see what all the excitement is about, this Saturday night is the perfect night to bring him or her along to the ABC Raceway.
Heartland Communications of Ashland and the Legendary Waters Resort & Casino of Red Cliff are offering a buy-one-get-one-free, or “BOGO,” adult grandstand admission ticket offer. The deal provides fans with the least-expensive stock car racing ticket available in the region – and it gets even sweeter when you factor in the benefit of two make-up features added to the evening’s slate.
The offer is a twist on the popular “Jam the Stands” nights which had been held at the Ashland track for the past several years. This time around, however, the idea is, in part, to give regular fans a chance to introduce new fans to the sport, as well as offer a little “thank you” gesture to those who do support the Raceway on a regular basis.
In addition to the regularly-scheduled menu of qualifying heats and main events for the track’s five weekly divisions – WISSOTA-sanctioned Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Pure Stocks, plus the ABC Raceway Six-Cylinders – the make-up features owed to the Mods and Supers from the shortened May 21 season opener will kick off the program.
Last Saturday night 112 entries jammed the pit area and ran 22 total races – over 260 green-flag laps. The culmination of all that action was the awarding of the first seven feature wins of the season, including to Greenwood’s Shane Halopka, who took home $1,000 for capturing the tenth annual “Mid-Mod Madness” victory.
The race was the 100th Mid-Mod feature recorded in ABC Raceway history.
Other feature winners from last weekend included Steve Stuart of Ashland in the “big Mods” and Cameron’s Curt Myers in the Supers. Bubba Anderson of Trego held on to win the regularly-scheduled Sixes feature, while Ashland’s Tiffany Hudack was the first to the checkers in the Sixes’ make-up A-main.
Two first-time winners claimed the Pure Stock headliners – Andrew Hanson of Iron River in the make-up race, and then later Trego’s Randy Graham in the scheduled run.
The Raceway’s live pre-race radio program, “Z-93 Race Night,” will air Saturday on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, and online at www.wbszfm.com, from 4:30-6 pm with up-to-date track news and weather information. Hot laps begin at 6:15 pm, followed by the first of the two make-up features at 7. Adult tickets are just $11 each, and kids ages 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult admission.
The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990, or log on anytime to the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com.
