Ashland, WI, June 4 — Due to the significant amount of rain over the past few days and another less-than-ideal forecast, the Board of Directors at the ABC Raceway cancelled its race program set for Saturday night.
The program was to include the popular Little Caesar’s Pizza-sponsored Kids’ Meet the Drivers Night as well as make-up features from the shortened May 21 season opener. However, much of the parking and pit areas are so saturated from the recent rainfall – which has been estimated to be in excess of seven inches since Memorial Day weekend – that access for fans and race teams to the facility would be difficult at best.
The Raceway Board intends to announce its decisions for rescheduling the make-up features from the May 21 event by mid-week.
Next Saturday night’s scheduled event is the tenth annual “Midwest Modified Madness” special, to be presented by the NAPA Auto Parts Stores of Ashland & Washburn, WI. The WISSOTA Midwest Mods will run a full show of qualifying races and a $1,000-to-win main event, while the track’s other regular weekly classes – the WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks and Pure Stocks, and the ABC Six-Cylinders – will compete in a full race program as well.
Hot laps will be at 6:15 pm, and green-flag racing will follow at 7. Adult tickets are $11, and fans ages 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. “Z-93 Race Night” will air live on WBSZ, 93.3 FM, and stream online at www.wbszfm.com, from 4:30-6 pm with at-the-track news and weather updates.
The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For more information visit the track’s website, www.abcraceway.com, or call the track on racedays at (715) 682-4990.
